She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Degree from the University of Ghana and her Masters Degree (LL.M.) in Law from Harvard Law School. She is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, having obtained a Certificate to Practice Law from the Ghana School of Law. In the last five years she has worked with the Legal Resources Centre (LRC), a human rights and development NGO based in Ghana.
She Leads the team to accomplish its Strategic Plan, she works to strengthen the two (2) programmes (Human Rights Cities Programme and the Research, Advocacy, Advisory Services Programme). She also works closely with the Board to raise funds for the ordinary operations and the establishment of an endowment and building fund for the LRC. Her research interestsare in the intersection of human rights, policy, development issues and legal pluralism.
Joseph Asobayire - Acting Director, Finance & Adminstration
Joseph is the Director of Finance and Administration (A.g). He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a Bachelor of Arts Secretaryship Degree (B.SEC.) from University of Cape Coast, a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast and a Certificate in French From Village du Benin.
He is a Senior Management Team member and is directly responsible to the Executive Director of the LRC. Joe has financially managed several magnitudes of donor funds on various Projects in the LRC including; USAID project for the Strengthening of the Parliament of Ghana 2006 – 2008, DFID Rights and Voice Initiative for the Strengthening of Civil Society Organizations in Ghana 2005- 2007, U.S. Department of State, international Program to Combat Trafficking 2008 – 2010, European Development Fund for Capacity Building for Effective Civil Society Participation in Local Governance August 2008 - December, 2009, and G-RAP Core Funding 2008 – 2010.
Ameley Agyeman holds a BA degree in Law and Linguistics from the University of Ghana. In 2004 she was called to the Ghana Bar and has since practised in the law courts of Ghana. She is a Hewlett Fellow/Research Scholar at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University. Mrs Agyeman became the first member of staff to be certified in the management of projects.
For a short while, she worked at the Council for Law Reporting where she was an assistant reporter for the 2002 edition of the Ghana Law Reports. She helped out for many years as an intern at the LRC until she was employed full time in November of 2004. In the period that Ameley has worked with the LRC she has coordinated many of its projects.
Mr. Akolgo is a programme officer in charge of the LRC's Human Rights Cities in the northern sector. These are Bongo and Walewale Human Rights Cities. He has been working with LRC since 2001.
He also coordinates the LRC's community radio initiatives in these cities in collaboration with the Ghana Community Radio Network (GCRN) programme. He is also responsible for managing the assets and logistics of the LRC.
Wendy Ata - Internship Coordinator/
Administrative Assistant
Wendy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Banking and Finance option from Valley View University, Ghana. She coordinates all activities under the Internship Programme and works directly with the Director of Finance and Administration to provide directions on administrative aspects of the LRC’S Work. Manages petty cash, keeps inventory of office supplies for re-stocking and supervising support staff in LRC offices.
Joyce holds a B.A degree in Psychology with Political Science from the University of Ghana. Her Passion for advancing the cause for Human Rights of the vulnerable in society has been the basis for working with the LRC. She worked as an intern for the LRC and subsequently joined the organisation in February 2011. Currently, she is a Programmes Officer.
